In order for the Programme to fulfil its mission, it needs to have a good understanding on what memeber states have to offer by way of policies, legislation, best practice, strategies, technical expertise,methodologies and business applications software in the public domain. For this reason an ICT Database has been developed and the first pilot has already been launched. Please visit our Resources page to access the database.

Commonwealth Internet Governance Forum

Commonwealth Connects Steering Committee recognised that the issues and discussions related to Internet Governance need to be shared at a Commonwealth level to encourage greater participation amongst Commonwealth Member countries. This CIGF has been established with a view to coming up with informed solutions or the pooling of good practice to address their needs more directly.

The CIGF seeks to encourage greater participation from Commonwealth members states on policy issues and discussions related to Internet Governance. Recent CIGF initiatives reflecting the priorities of participants have been the compilation of resources on child protection and cyber security. For further information please vist the CIGF website.

ICT Needs Assessment

Recognising that the programme should be demand driven and premised on intra Commonwealth collaboration, the priority is to identify the needs of member states falling within the Commonwealth competencies. These are:

1. building policy and regulatory capacity
2. modernising education and skills development
3. entrepreneurship for poverty reduction
4. promoting local access and connectivity
5. regional networks, local content and knowledge

Such needs will be translated into projects, prioritised by the Steering Committee and commissioned by matching with suitable Commonwealth partners. This process is all subject to appropriate funding being realised.

The Commonwealth Partnership Platform Portal (CP3)

The Commonwealth Partnership Platform Portal (CP3) will be officially presented to member states at CHOGM as a ‚Äúone-stop‚Äù venue providing multidisciplinary information on Commonwealth and connecting youths, governments and businesses from across the Commonwealth. The CP3 will provide a versatile, efficient information and communications tool, which members of the Commonwealth community could use to advance key Commonwealth goals and values.

Specifically CP3 will advance key Commonwealth goals and values of:

- greater knowledge and understanding of cultural diversity;

- increased outreach to youth and other groups at risk;

- better communications and cooperation among member country governments; and

- more effective collaboration among non-governmental organisations and voluntary associations

GIDD Team including Director (Team Lead) and ICT team are members of core team responsible to over look the Phase 1 of CP3 project that includes development of business plan and prototype
